K*Ville love - Y'all didn't know I love Cole Hauser did you? PIMP POST
K*Ville is... ridiculously politically charged and will likely be prone to lots of wank. Though you won't find much of wank here. I'd like to say you won't find any, but it's too early to say. I appreciate that this this entertainment medium is attempting to bring awareness to a pocket of our country we'd rather not put our hands in. That being said I'm into this show for none of those reasons.

- RockStar!Cops are a thing I've loved since I was wee. I would sneak episodes of Hunter when I was younger. I just... HUNTER WAS SO AWESOME. HE PWN'D!!
- I've been waiting for Cole Hauser to be in something awesome since Dazed and Confused. Possibly even since School Ties though I don't even remember him in that film. So when he showed up in Pitch Black I was just *thrilled*. Sadly his character was a punk and got shank'd all proper like. But now he's RockStar!Cop in a New Orleans show that is filmed beautifully and is the wounded soul dead pan Trever Cobb to Anthony Anderson's jubilant sekrit genius Marlin Boulet.
- John Carroll Lynch most known for playing Drew Carrey's cross-dressing brother plays
- Anthony Anderson is a jack ass and has a quick wit.
- Filmed entirely in New Orleans. The cinematography is just... really gorgeous. They play with the lighting a lot to bring out the living GREENS in New Orleans. Sometimes they bring the greens out in this stark contrast to the dark dirty greys. And the chase sceens are... chasey. It's just... the people filming think New Orleans is the most gorgeous place on this Earth.

Nit Picks:
Boulet's black and southern and puts hot sauce in his oatmeal. Oh and in case you missed that HE'S BLACK AND ALSO SOUTHERN AND LIKES HOT SAUCE. They're still playing that up in ep 2, but they're also playing up Cobb's PAST MADE OF SCANDAL. I'm hoping that as the season finds its stride these blatant reminders will die off... shit what network is this show on?

Fuck. It's on FOX.

Okay so the blatant reminders of race and scandal may never taper off, but... The Boulet hype had less actual screen time in ep 2 than the Pilot. In the Pilot I felt shoved and jostled around by Boulet's black southerness - not personally shoved around. The show was just all HEY LOOK AT THIS BLACK MAN RIGHT HERE. IN CASE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE. OH AND HE'S SOUTHERN. AND LOVES BLACK MUSIC. AND HOT SAUCE. AND ALSO HE'S BLACK. AND SOUTHERN. Today, with Cobb's Web, I just felt like I was being pelted with blacksouthern nerf discs. But also Cobb's Web was more about Cobb than Boulet. The Pilot was all about Boulet and Katrina and his deep desire to heal his New Orleans. And then they stuck him with this white dude and isn't *that* about a bitch... etc., etc.

So far Cole Hauser and Anthony Anderson play well with each other. Boulet bullshits and plays around, but he's *smart* in a scary WTF sort of way. Cobb sits there all non-pulsed by the shenanigans, until he doesn't. Then you get this tricksy mind that pulls crazy shit out of thin air that works when it shouldn't.

RockStar!Cops FTW!!

Gippity Gip GIP!! wherein I love on [livejournal.com profile] madmartigan_1 quite a lot. *G
[livejournal.com profile] madmartigan_1 made me this and my new default icon. I adore her quite a lot. She makes these icons...

Y'know how sometimes you're walking along and spy candy in a candy store window and you're happy to just stand there gaping for a few? Like each candy is an engaging anecdote and you almost don't want to eat them? But then you get the candy in your hands and gobble 'em up in two seconds? [livejournal.com profile] madmartigan_1's icons are like that.

I first learned about her when she made those smashing animated MTV Cribs icons with dancing counter jumping finger licking Rosenbaum. Mmmm.

I backtracked in her journal and found some of the most sensational MR icons EVER. They were so Mike... I mean Mike oozed off the page. They held such *presence*. Took my breath way. Literally. I was gasping and wheezy. Oh and this batch? Her first icons Ever. EVER!!! I was flabbergasted.

I began stalking her. *G*

She begrudgingly made a batch of Tom Welling and Confused!Clark icons.

These spaztastic icons feature animated adorkably bald and fuzzy headed MR. Oh and a stubbly headed one from the couch - with those boots. *shiver*

This particular batch of TW with a smidge of MR stumped me for a few weeks. I think it was the Sound of Music Clana that made my brain short circuit. That or the Oh, SNAP. TW. *leers*

I've always wanted a gleeful fangy Welling of my very own. So when [livejournal.com profile] madmartigan_1 finally noticed my stalking she rewarded me with these TW icons. *girly sigh*

Go! Love on her!

ETA: I didn't know that [livejournal.com profile] madmartigan_1 was planning to leave us when I rec'd her icons. She can now be found at http://madmartiganone.blogspot.com/ I'm working on getting her icons posted somewhere more accessible than my hard-drive. *g*

Because when I have not used my computer for 72 hours I must spam. Oh and Harry and the Potters
After this weekend, where I was without private computer access, I took precautions to prevent another LJ dry spell. I've enabled e-mail and phone posting.

I feel I should warn all of you though. I've set my journal up to receive e-mail posts via the text messaging address for my cell phone. The "warning" is this: I spam my friends via text messaging when I'm bored. Like the time I spammed [livejournal.com profile] onelittlesleep about Vin Diesel and emo boys when I was doing laundry. Today's earlier post was sent from the line at the grocery store and the milk aisle. I'm tempted to apologize in advance, but I have genuine crazy people on my flist so... I really don't feel to sorry for you. *G*

I'm not quite sure what to do with the phone posting, yet. I'm thinking of reserving it for weekends like this last one where I had no computer access and need more than 160 characters to impart something. And I can practically guarantee you there will be a drunken phone post in the future. *nod nod* I'm a loving snuggly drunk. Which is why I only drink with friends or at home alone. There's a very good chance I will crawl into your lap whether it's available or not. *g*

Hey [livejournal.com profile] onelittlesleep!! Harry and the Potters are on tour!

They're going to be in my area July 31st and in your area August 1-3!!! I'm taking a camera. A real one. Not just my craptastic camera phone. And it looks like the shows are free!

The MySpace.com website sucks. The only way I could find out the time of the shows was to become a MySpace.com member and add the shows to "My Calendar" and then go to "My Calendar" (which was a bitch and a half to find) and click on the day of the event to view the time! Ah-HA!! Direct calendar link here!

*wipes brow, takes deep breath*

I hate websites with superfluous and irrelevant navigation that bury the stuff a user would use most often - like their own even calendar. *hates* Oh and more than that I HATE having to choose a "secure" password that is then E-MAILED TO ME IN PLAIN TEXT!!! How fracking secure is that?!!! FIDIOTS!!!

Harry Potter progress thus far:
Skipping Book 1. I mean seriously... There's no Sirius in Book 1!
Read most of Book 3 in 3.5 hours.
Then skimmed the bits of Book 2 [livejournal.com profile] alexajones22 advised me to in 45 minutes.

Future plans:
Book 4
• Skim all the earlier Weasley Twins, Sirius, Moody, Draco, Cedric, Snape and SekritDating!Hagrid bits.
• Ugh, that's a long list. Maybe I'll just skip all the veela, other visiting students, and select annoying non-plot forwarding bits.
• Read the entire last 1/4-1/3 or from the start of the Tournament.
Book 5
• Read in its near entirety, skipping superfluous character dialog. i.e. Ron whining/accusing Harry of being jealous. And all that Cho crap, except the bit where Harry tells her off. *g* I've never liked Cho.
• Fall in love with Fred and George all over again. The swamp in the corridor, yo. My fucking heroes. *happy sigh*
Book 6
• Find a way to read it in one go. Such as get a job this week so's to take the weekend to lay in bed, sloth like, with a book.
• Discuss and spam [livejournal.com profile] alexajones22 at will. *g* She has a real phone now! YEEE!!!

I need your help.
I'm watching Bend it Like Beckham. I could not even tell you if this is a good movie or not. I'm not really watching the movie. I'm watching Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.

I am a brand new Jonathan Rhys-Meyers convert. I mean y'all told me, but you didn't *tell* me. I mean how do you convey such things? It's unconveyable.

But, ohhhhh how I need your help. I need Velvet Goldmine. I need it like whoa.

I can't find a torrent. It's not on the newsgroups. *cries*

JRM is gay as the gayest sun. Even dancing to bad German techno he's gay. He can't help but be gay. Awww Tony! Jess is a fag hag! *adores* Why didn't anyone tell me Jess was a fag hag? Why didn't I listen to any of you when you told me how hot JRM is? WHY? *rents hair and weeps into 4th (possibly 5th) beer*

Please don't buy your media at the store
*pets her DVD burner*

I know a lot of you are fond of going into a store and procuring items for purchase. It's fun, right? But for the love of all that is shiny please don't buy your digital media (DVDRs, CDRs, memory cards, etc.) in a brick and mortar. Save yourself lots of money and buy your DVDRs for $.30 a piece and your CDRs for a dime by checking out the following locations:

Online Stores:
http://www.newegg.com/ - fabulous shipping prices, peer reviews (like Amazon), got my external DVD burner there for under $100.

Remember the emo kissing vid?
The emo kissing vid inspired [livejournal.com profile] bexless to write super hot emo porn. She didn't write fic about those emo boys. That would be wrong. It's fic inspired by the events in the emo vid. *nod nod*

Also? Emo boys have taken over the corporatey coffee shop up the street. When this particular Peet's Coffee opened a few months ago it was staffed by the kind of folk you'd expect in a downtown corporatey coffee shop. There was a nice woman with brown hair in a simple pony tail. She was cute. Today? There were two skinny guys all tattooed with black hair. One had his hair up in a shiny bun and the other had a weed whacker cut covering half his face. If I want to see emo punks I'd go to the independent coffee shops. *pouts* I mean they weren't even hot! And I'm pretty sure they were both over 20 and one of them *had* to be at least 24. They made me feel *old*. *is not old*
